Commenting on the Care Commission report revealing that one in five care services in Scotland are failing to carry out proper background checks on their staff, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"These are very disturbing reports. The Government has a responsibility to ensure that all vulnerable people are adequately protected from harm.
"I urge Ministers to work with the Care Commission and investigate why so many agencies are failing to take the common sense approach and perform background checks on their staff."
