Government must act to prevent exodus of nursing skills

Commenting on the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) report 'Older… but wiser', which warns that NHS Scotland faces a skills exodus as older nurses retire, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"NHS Scotland is facing a nursing skills exodus. Action needs to be taken now to ensure that generations of nursing experience is passed on to new recruits.

"A forum, as suggested by the RCN, would be a good starting point for the Scottish Government to work out how new recruits benefit from the expertise of the more experienced nurses on the brink of retirement."
