Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie has challenged the Scottish Government to introduce a detailed timetable for action aimed at improving young people's life chances.
Mr Finnie's comments come as a report from Growing Up in Scotland (GUS) shows that young people from deprived areas are more likely to have poor diets and be less active.
Commenting Mr Finnie said:
"Liberal Democrats fully support initiatives aimed at tackling health inequalities and deprivation in Scotland.
"We want to see young people from deprived areas encouraged to have healthier diets and take more exercise.
"Ministers must introduce an integrated framework aimed at improving young peoples' life chances. I am calling on the SNP Government to bring forward a detailed timetable for such action to help Scotland's most vulnerable young people."
