Commenting on figures showing that the number of people registered with an NHS dentist has risen in the past year, Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesperson Jamie Stone said:
"Although I welcome the slight increase in number of people registered with a dentist, we must not lose sight of the bigger picture.
"Around 43 per cent of Scotland's adult population are still not registered with an NHS dentist. NHS Grampian is particularly poor, with only 39.2 per cent of adults registered with a dentist.
"It is generally accepted that more dentists is the answer to the crisis in dental services, particularly in remote and rural areas. The SNP Government needs to make training new dentists a priority."
