North East Fife's MSP Iain Smith and MP Sir Menzies Campbell have welcomed the news that Fife Council have committed £500,000 to a new recycling centre in the Tay Bridgehead area and have described it as an "excellent result" for the area.
Iain Smith MSPCommenting Iain Smith said:
"This is fantastic news for the Tay Bridgehead area. Both Sir Menzies and I, along with our council colleagues Tim Brett and Maggie Taylor have been campaigning for this type of facility for a long time. It is good to see the commitment to this from the Liberal Democrats on Fife Council by securing its funding.
"North East Fife's record in recycling is exceptional and contributes significantly to the success of Fife as a whole. This recycling centre is an excellent result for the local area and I am convinced that residents in the Tay Bridgehead area will make very good use of it. Fife is close to being the top council in Scotland for recycling rates and this kind of commitment will help with its aim to be the best."
Menzies Campbell MPSir Menzies said:
"There has been local support for a recycling centre like this to serve the community for a considerable time and I and others have been campaigning to ensure that one is delivered.
"North east Fife has an outstanding record when it comes to recycling and the provision of these new facilities will enable that record to be maintained."
