Commenting on news that only thirteen percent of Primary 1-3 pupils are in class sizes of eighteen or less, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith MSP said:
Margaret Smith MSP"We are halfway through the SNP administration's term but nowhere near halfway to their manifesto pledge of cutting class sizes for one hundred percent of P1-3 pupils.
"Liberal Democrats warned last year that local authorities were struggling to meet the SNP's flagship education policy. The SNP has repeatedly done nothing to help councils meet their centrally dictated targets.
"The Education Secretary has dumped pledge after pledge - on student debt , on school building and now on class sizes. The only surprise is that the First Minister passed on the opportunity to dump his Education Secretary in the reshuffle ."
