Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll and Bute, has welcomed the news that jobs will be saved at the former Vestas wind turbine plant in
Campbeltown.
Liberal Democrats were first to press the Scottish Government for action to save the one hundred jobs that rely on the viability of this facility.
Commenting, Mr Reid said:
"I am delighted that the plant will remain open and that the jobs of so
many of my constituents have been saved.
"When I participated in the negotiations I made sure that everyone was
aware of the devastating effect any closure would have on the local
economy and Scotland's renewable energy ambitions.
"After visiting the plant at my invitation, Tavish Scott demanded that the Scottish Government take action to save this vital local employer.
"People whose jobs were threatened during these tough economic time will be thrilled that the First Minister has listened to this sage advice.
"The Kintyre economy boasts one of the most highly skilled and motivated workforces in Scotland. Liberal Democrats will continue to ensure that they have the opportunities to showcase their talent."
