SNP letting down businesses across Scotland - Purvis

Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP has accused the SNP Government of failing to support struggling businesses in Scotland.

Mr Purvis' comments come after a report from the Scottish Chamber of Commerce has found that the cost of regulation on Scottish businesses has risen to £4.8 billion, a jump of over £600 million in the last year.

Commenting, Mr Purvis said:

"The financial cost of the regulatory burden placed on Scotland's already struggling businesses is unacceptable.

"In opposition and in their manifesto the SNP committed to cutting red tape for Scottish businesses.

"In Government, however, they have completely failed to deliver on this promise. The cost of new regulation on small businesses has risen by £600 million in the last year.

"This is another broken promise from SNP Ministers. This Government's cavalier attitude to their own manifesto commitment is letting down businesses across Scotland."
