Commenting on the news that 18 people died from C. Difficile at Gartnavel Hospital in 2008, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"These figures are very concerning. The Health Secretary must now make sure that the Public Inquiry into C. Difficile is broadened to cover outbreaks across the whole of Scotland.
"Until such an inquiry is concluded there is no way of knowing if we are taking the right steps to prevent these outbreaks from happening in the future.
"These figures also raise concerns over how well outbreaks of C. Difficile are being monitored in our hospitals. Ministers must make sure that hospitals are doing everything they can to monitor and control these outbreaks."
