Alison McInnes, North East MSP and Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson, has called on the Scottish Government to end the uncertainty over the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road (AWPR). Her call comes ahead of the Scottish Cabinet meeting in Aberdeen to be held on Monday.
Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:
"The findings of the AWPR inquiry have been sitting in the Transport Secretary's in-tray gathering dust for long enough.
"Last week a report commissioned by Scottish Enterprise highlighted that the recession would hit hardest in the North East with up to 11,000 job losses. This is a stark reminder of the need for investment in infrastructure to help us weather the downturn and a warning of the consequences of inaction.
"The Cabinet is rolling into Aberdeen this week to host the next instalment of their one sided National Conversation. Commuters in the North East could do with less talking and more action from the SNP.
"It's time Mr Stevenson stopped dithering and allowed this vital project to go ahead."
