Commenting after the Scottish Parliament met to discuss the international fall-out after the SNP's decision to release the Lockerbie bomber, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:
"The minority SNP Government does not speak exclusively for the people of Scotland.
"The Justice Secretary did not seek nor invite the opinion of Parliament before deciding to release Mr Megrahi. It is vital that the voice of the Scottish Parliament is now heard.
"Liberal Democrats want an urgent vote of the Scottish Parliament so that the majority can voice its view on the handling of this highly contentious issue.
"It is staggering that the welcome that he received back home in Tripoli and the international fall-out that has ensued was not anticipated by the Justice Secretary and the SNP Government."
