One of Scotland's most respected politicians, former Liberal leader David Steel joined his daughter and LibDem Westminster candidate Catriona Bhatia, and local Councillor Richard Brodie in Annan this weekend.
Speaking after the visit Catriona Bhatia said;
"We had a warm reception from locals in and around Annan High Street, Gretna and Eastriggs. Many people feel disillusioned and let down by both the Government and politicians in general. I hope to be able to demonstrate to people that having been brought up to believe in conviction politics and in serving the public with integrity, not all politicians are the same. If elected I would certainly do everything I can to restore people's faith in democracy by always remembering that my first loyalty is to my constituents."
Cllr Brodie, who has recently been adopted as LibDem Westminster Candidate for Dumfries and Galloway, added;
"I was really pleased that David Steel came down to endorse both my and Catriona's campaigns. This area has been let down by the Tories and Labour for too long, and it is encouraging to hear that more and more people are turning to the Liberal Democrats as the party of fairness and most likely to be genuinely interested in people's concerns."
