Speaking after attending a series of meetings with UK Business Secretary Vince Cable, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Tavish Scott said:
"The Scottish Liberal Democrats want action on banking to tackle the bonus culture, the lack of real competition and banks that are too big to fail.
"Scottish business needs the UK Government to kick start lending by the Banks during these worrying recessionary times. So Vince Cable's commitment today to get banks lending is welcome and necessary.
"Scottish business needs a Government on its side that helps to create the conditions for jobs, economic growth and a sustainable new economy. The new Liberal Democrat Business Secretary is the man with the experience and drive to take the necessary action."
