Drug statistics show SNP has priorities wrong on health spending

Commenting on official figures showing that the NHS is spending more money than ever on prescription drugs, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"The Government's own figures show that the cost of prescription drugs has soared by £30 million and is now nudging the £1 billion mark.

"The number of items dispensed is also continuing to increase. This Government has to get a grip on this.

"The SNP has to get its priorities straight. At a time when health boards are having to cut thousands of nursing posts, it's madness to continue along the path of scrapping prescription charges."
